This past week I really went hog-wild on holiday spirit. Starting with the National Tree Lighting on Thursday! The kick-off ceremony requires tickets acquired through a lottery system. After living in DC for seven years my name was finally chosen! And amazingly, so was Claire’s! We got a whole crew together to get out of work early, join the crowd and celebrate the season.
And after sunset the show began. Reese Witherspoon was the emcee for the night, and the Obama family and Miss Piggy made guest appearances. As well as the Joyous String Quartet, aka a bunch of nine-year-old musicians that are already making it big.
On Friday, I attended a delightful Nutcracker performance by the Washington Ballet. The costumes, the twirls – it had been too long. On a side note, I highly recommend the Warner Theater for a show; it has so much character and all the seats seem so close!
Holiday cheer continued at a Holi-dance party. A fantastic time was had by all:

And finally, Claire and I pieced together our tree! Structure via Target, scent via Yankee Candle.
