Dan, Annie, Keely, Mike, Rachel and I traveled to Sperryville, VA, about an hour and a half drive from DC, for the trail in Shenandoah National Park. According to official park materials the hike is about 9.3 miles, but at the end of the day our collective FitBits said otherwise, clocking in around 180 “flights of stairs” and 11 miles. Either way, it was a trek!
We packed lunch and spent the day embracing the elements. Luckily, the trail was fairly empty, for the exception of a thriving group of 50+ year old veteran hikers who provided words of wisdom along the way, and even offered to take a group shot!
The weather was perfect – all you needed was a light jacket. The view!
