Friends in High Places

This weekend I kept the heart pumping with a hike up Buck Hollow Trail to Mary’s Rock!

Mary's Rock
Dan, Annie, Keely, Mike, Rachel and I traveled to Sperryville, VA, about an hour and a half drive from DC, for the trail in Shenandoah National Park. According to official park materials the hike is about 9.3 miles, but at the end of the day our collective FitBits said otherwise, clocking in around 180 “flights of stairs” and 11 miles. Either way, it was a trek!

We packed lunch and spent the day embracing the elements. Luckily, the trail was fairly empty, for the exception of a thriving group of 50+ year old veteran hikers who provided words of wisdom along the way, and even offered to take a group shot!

The weather was perfect – all you needed was a light jacket. The view!

Back in DC, I spiralized some more this week (shown here sautéed with a bit of EVOO and spices, and grilled chicken):

And attended Pastaversary! Over a year of Friday Night Pasta dinners hosted by Lesley and Kelsey. The tradition that keeps on giving!
