When I browsed Google Flights a few weeks ago and found $84 roundtrip tickets home, I couldn’t question the game plan, I just had to book. Fortunately, for this late-summer/pre-fall trip home I was able to soak in all that is good in the Greater Springfield Area!
Including taking a trip out to Deerfield, MA for a visit to the Yankee Candle flagship compound. Nance and I guesstimated that it had been about 13 years since our inaugural visit. It was time for a trip back!
Rooms on room on rooms of candles: 400,000 in 200 different scents. Crazy! I selected an “Autumn Wreath” for the DC abode and left the more eclectic scents, like “Tailgate” which nailed the fire pit aroma, in Deerfield.
Nance, Leo and I were also able to enjoy a delightful lunch in the garden at Chandler’s Restaurant. Highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar biscuit. Everything in moderation.
Back at home base, I got to catch up with BFF Nicole, shown here in our matching neon jackets pre-after dark walk!
And bask in dad’s chocolate chip pancakes in the morning sunshine:
Out East, I saw Papa Joe and met the newest member of the Hooley lineage! Miss Emmeline Haggerty is the definition of precious. Those cheeks! That belly!
(w/Nance, Auntie Kathy and Emmeline)
Until next time, when the real autumn wreaths will be in full swing!
